A Civil Engineer from BITS Pilani, L Suresh’s entry into the professional world was through HCL Hewlett-Packard, where he was part of the CAD-CAM team. But he had figured rather early in life that he would rather build brands than houses and construct sentences than bridges.
Since chasing dreams was always going to be a tad easier than chasing reality, he began a decade-long journey that led to several whistle-stops in leading organizations like RK Swamy/BBDO, J Walter Thompson (previously Hindustan Thompson Associates), Contract Advertising, Avigna Technologies and Congruent Solutions.
A lot of hard work, a few awards and fantastic exposure to clients like Sony, Citibank, Ford, McKinsey, Pepsi, Bharat Petroleum, Ashok Leyland and Parryware made the journey worth every late night and every rejection that he experienced along the way.
A decade later, he quit his last-held job as Creative Director of Contract Advertising and hit the road.
The exhilarating journey continued as he mentored young agencies, helping them gain clients and confidence, became a columnist for leading newspapers, worked as a consultant with an event management company, moonlighted as a senior creative resource for leading ad agencies and wrote multimedia and corporate film scripts along the way.
Another decade passed. And after years of CAD-CAM, advertising, multimedia, internet, event management and journalism, it was time to make some sense of his varied experience in unrelated fields.
He is currently working as Head – Brand Communication at the Newgen Group.
